We work with programs all over the world (all 7 continents) and we work with every type of cause (wildlife conservation, teaching English, community development, children’s issues, environmental conservation) … you name it! Your skills are valuable… whatever they may be. And even if you don’t think you have any skills (although we know you do), we can use you!!
SAFETY
With us, you can go places you might not otherwise feel comfortable going on your own. We provide you the extra support you need to venture out and see the world.
DIVERSITY OF AGES
Also with Give and Getaways, you can be any age adult. We don’t just work with students or solely focus on gap year travel (although we do that too). Mid-career? Retired? We need you!
EASE
All of the logistics are taken care of for you (flights, meet and greet at the airport, transfers, orientation, lodging, emergency assistance). We can even plan excursions for you! You get to focus on volunteering and vacationing. We do the rest.
AUTHENTICITY OF CONTRIBUTION
You also get to know that you are making a difference. We focus on organizations led by locals so you know the work will continue after you leave. You do your part and pass the baton so that the work can continue for a lasting contribution.
Why Pay to Volunteer?
There are many components to volunteering globally: transportation, lodging, food, insurance, administrative fees, etc. But the most important thing to know is this: local organizations do not typically have the resources needed to fully host a volunteer. This takes time, program development, community team recruitment, logistical support, training, on-site coordination, etc. Many are just barely getting by and if they had an abundance of resources, they would hire local expertise (those who are already proficient in the work, know the culture, speak the language) to complete their projects. Thus the need for self-funded volunteers.
